Since I was just a little girl my family has gone to Lagoon on the same weekend every year. It has been a fun tradition to look forward to. It is so great to have my children enjoy the same traditions. Brooklyn was so brave! I could not believe the rides she went on!

Bridgette's 2nd Birthday! 8/29/09

My baby is 2! I can't believe how fast she is growing up. This is such a fun and challenging age- she is into EVERYTHING! I had to call poison control 3 times in one week! She started climbing out of her crib and learned how to open doors, so we officially put her in a big girl bed and she is sharing a room with Brooklyn. They get up much earlier now, but it is so cute to listen to them talk to each other and hear Brooklyn singing her songs and telling her stories to put her to sleep. They are such good sisters! Bridgette has already figured out how to open the fridge and the child proof cabinet locks. I can't leave her alone for 2 minutes to get ready anymore! I am running out of places to hide things from her that are out of reach and I am having to get creative to keep her out of things. Recently when she is doing something she knows is off limits she looks at me and gives me the biggest, cheesiest smile she can in hopes that I will let it slide. It is a good thing she is so cute!

A Day at the Pond 8/27/09

Brooklyn's preschool class took a fieldtrip to a pond to go fishing and feed the ducks. My kids love animals!

DEF LEPPARD! 9/23/09

If you know my husband at all you know that he is obsessed with Def Leppard. We went to their concert this year and got amazing tickets at a great price. We had a blast! This was a picture Jason took of me on the way there- he wanted me to get all "dolled up" as he would put it. Too funny! We got a few decent pictures of the band too.

'Til We Meet Again 9/16/09

A few weeks ago my Grandpa passed away and I wanted to post one of the last generation pictures I got with him. These were taken at our annual Christmas party a couple of years ago. I will miss him dearly and it makes me grateful for the Gospel and the knowledge that we will all be together forever someday. Me and my girls had the pleasure of sitting with his body the morning he died at the care center before the Mortuary came to take him away. We had an amazing experience. I was holding Bridgette and the moment we stood in the doorway she stared at him and pointed in front of him and said, "Jesus." Tears came to my eyes and we went to stand over him and she said again, "Jesus." A few seconds later she said, "Great Grandpa......Jesus." I have never been so humbled by my sweet daughter. I walked to my mom and asked if she had said anything to her before we came and she said she had not. I hadn't discussed anything with her either. I knew she could see far more than we could. I am so thankful for moments like these that bring our eternal purpose back into focus. 4 generations in this picture....Grandpa, my Dad, Me, and Bridgette.

My Grandpa LOVED to ride motorcycles and compete- it has been a family tradition since before I was even born. Some of my best memories growing up are riding motorcyles with my family. These are some of the medals he won.

GIRL PARTY! 8/14/09

Every 6 months or so my mom has an "All Girl" party with the granddaughters, but there are so many now that my mom has asked the daughters to join in the fun. This time we did it at my sister Soni's house since there is a reservoir in her backyard and the kids wanted to go swimming. Soni has 4 boys, so it pretty much turned into an "All Grandkids" party. We had so much fun!

My mom bought a professional Glitter Toes system from a wholesale show in Vegas and was so nice to share it with all of us! We took turns doing Glitter Toes on all of the girls.

My oldest niece Starrie got Bridgette to sleep- she needs the practice since she is expecting her first in December!

My mom told the kids a story about "strength in numbers" with sticks as a visual, so they were trying to break the whole bundle of sticks to no avail!

Annual Timp Hike 8/13/09

Me and some of my family decided to hike Timp again this year, but we took a different trail and it was 2 miles longer. The scenery was gorgeous though. This is standing at the bottom looking up to where we are about to hike, though it is only the beginning once we get to the top of that ridge.

The picture of this waterfall does not do it justice. There were little fascets in the rocks and it trickled down them and was almost glittery. It was so beautiful.

This is the glacier we slid down on our way back- it was so fun!

Finally at the summit! It is an 18 mile round-trip hike- we were feeling pretty good this time when we reached the top.

The top ridge we followed to get to the glacier- this was the scariest part for me because I am not exactly a fan of heights and the trail is very narrow with a dropoff on one side.

Another Trip to Washington 8/9/09

Jason and I went for a short trip to Washington to spend time with his family for his parent's Mission farewell. It was such a great experience! It is a rare thing for all of his siblings to get together since we are in Utah, Deena is in New York, Kristy is in northwest Washington, and Chad and his parents are in southeast Washington. We soaked up every minute with them! We are so happy that his parents are going to serve a Mission and we know they will do a great job.

Okay, so I guess I can no longer hide the fact that I am freakishly strong. Yes, you are seeing this correctly, I am so strong that I broke a golf club in half! My ball was right in front of that tree in the background (a twig really), so when I swung and followed through, my club caught the tree and broke. It barely made a scratch on that little tree, but it broke the club in half- go figure? It must have been bent already or something! It was so funny I fell on the ground laughing!

Brooklyn started Preschool! She was so excited to get her backpack and go to school like the older kids. She asked me every 5 minutes if it was time to go yet. When I told her I was going to take her picture before we left she struck a pose all on her own. Isn't she a cute little thing?!Brooklyn and her cousin Max.

So the other day I took my kids to the beach and just as soon as I sat down and got everything settled, Bridgette walked down to the water and started screaming. At first I thought Brooklyn took something from her (Sorry Brooke!), but when it continued I knew she was really hurting from something. I kept looking all over her foot for a sting of some kind since she was refusing to stand on it, but I couldn't find anything. After probably 10 minutes of screaming I found that she had been stung by a wasp right in between her toes! Poor baby! I finally decided to head back to the house after the glares I was receiving from all of the other moms on the beach. She continued to scream and refused to let me comfort her in any way for about and hour when I finally laid her in bed to let her cry herself to sleep. I wanted to do a whole post for this one photo because I cannot express how much my girls love their Grandpa. If my dad is not working out in his shop when we walk through the garage to go into the house Bridgette says, "Where's Bampa?" When we watch movies they fight over his lap and Bridgette reaches out her arms to him and says, "hold you Bampa." I love how much they enjoy spending time with him. He is notorious for letting Brooklyn sit on his lap when he is working on the computer or taking her to the hardware store with him 'just because'. He lets her 'help' him in his shop by letting her cut scrap plastic tubing left from stripping electrical wires. Thank you Dad for being such a great Father and Grandfather!

Sunday afternoon with Grandma and Grandpa Bunker

We decided to go to Grandma and Grandpa Bunker's ward to show off their grandkids. My dad took a couple of random shots of us in the yard.
Bridgette kept pulling leaves from the branches above us and showing them to me. Brooklyn's attention span obviously didn't last very long either- she successfully escaped!

Bridgette loves to go to Grandma's house because without fail she either has a treat already made on the counter or makes a new batch if she knows the grandkids are coming. All growing up I could count on coming home from school to some yummy treat- I wonder why I was chubby growing up? My mom passed on her love of baking to me, but I have my limits. I will bake once a week on Sundays and anything left Monday morning goes to work with Jason for his co-workers or to our neighbors. I don't want the temptation in the house! Can anyone tell me why something that brings so much love and joy into a home can be so bad for you? It is so unfair! I enjoy it so much I would bake every day if there were no negative consequences.

We went to a park for their cousin Jaxon's Birthday Party (Jake's son). He is the cutest little man and loves Brooke to pieces. Their cousin Spring (Stephanie's Youngest) came too- so cute! I am so glad there are so many cousins around for them to play with.

My mom and dad have been working day and night to put a pond and waterfall in their backyard. My dad has wanted to do it for years and decided now was the time. It is so fun to relax and listen to the sound of the water, but I can't seem to keep the kids out of it when we go over there! My cousin Ashley and her daughter, Madison, came to visit and we let the kids play. It is great to see how much they enjoy it!

A Day at The Beach!

My friend Megan and I took our kids to the 'beach' right behind my sister Soni's house. It was so much fun- the kids played in the sand and had a blast! I love to sit on the beach and enjoy the sun...there is nothing more relaxing than that. It makes me dream of going to Hawaii again soon. It got so hot the kids started fighting for the 3 foot circle of shade we had under the umbrella- too funny!

4th of July

Every year since I can remember we get together with my mom's side of the family and have a reunion at the Scera park on the 4th of July. I have had great memories there and now my kids are the next generation. It is so fun seeing all of my cousins and their little ones! The family has grown and changed so much. I am so thankful for our country and for the beliefs it was founded on and the people that have fought and died to protect our freedom. It is no doubt that this is the greatest nation on earth. I am thankful for the men who were inspired by God to write our Constitution- I hope our country can continue to hold to those values they once cherished!

Grandpa Bunker

On Father's Day this year I spent the afternoon with the Bunker clan including my Grandpa Bunker who is my only living Grandparent. He is suffering from dementia and has forgotten who everyone is. It has been hard to watch someone go from riding motorcycles and having an extremely sharp mind to losing all concept of time, people, places, etc. in a matter of a few short years. I just wanted to say thanks to my grandpa for all of the traditions that were kept alive in his home every year for me to enjoy as a child and as an adult watching my children enjoy those same traditions. He is now living in a care center so the traditions will not be the same. Thank you Grandpa for your love and support through the years- I love you!

Baby Contest Winner!

So I have never really been one for contests, but I decided to enter Bridgette in the Springville City baby contest since she won't be considered a baby soon. I entered her sister in one when she was young, so I thought it only fair. As it turns out, she won 2nd place! She won a medal, got her picture in the local newspaper, and she got to ride in the city parade. Since we were already going to be at there, Jason decided to volunteer to drive the UPS truck in the parade and let Brooklyn ride shotgun with him- she had so much fun!!!

The Ultimate Slacker!

I know it has been almost a year since my first and last post, but blogging has not been a very convenient thing in my life. I AM THE ULTIMATE SLACKER!!! I have since started working graveyard shifts Friday and Saturday nights, so I am hoping to start updating it on a regular basis for something to do to keep myself awake. My life is so exciting I know you are all dying to know what I have been up to.....well.....I have been managing, budgeting, constructing, cooking, cleaning, and attempting to tame two wild animals named Brooklyn and Bridgette! My job title is: CEO of the Yost home (or some would call me MOM). These posts are those of the crazy life of a mom- nothing significant seems to happen, yet why am I so worn out? I think this can be a great way to force myself to live in the moment and see the small things that are happening around me every day. I have a problem living in the future and I tend to forget about the here and now. My girls are growing up right before my eyes and I can't help but feel sad....time just passes by too quickly. If nothing else, this will be a place for me to reflect and keep a journal of the time I spend with my perfect little Angels that make life worth living. Things have come full circle and everything that has lost it's lustre has become new and exciting again as I watch my girls experience things for the first time and learn and grow. I am so blessed that my Heavenly Father has trusted me with such sweet spirits. They keep me laughing and smiling and they teach me something new every day. They like to try my patience once in awhile too! So here I go....continuing the struggle to be the best mom I can be. I am grateful to have the most amazing mom who has been a perfect example of selfless service and has taught me to nurture, cook, sew, be creative, and to do all of the things that are required of a mother. She is my mom and my best friend. And a dad who is always there whenever I need him to guide me in the right direction and have faith in me. He has taught me how to fix things, build things, and not to be afraid of doing things myself. Without him I would have never discovered many talents and hobbies I truly enjoy. He is always helping others and giving with his time and knowledge. He is a genius. I have the best family and support system I could ever ask for. I just want everyone to know how grateful I am for everything I am blessed with. I don't know what I did to deserve so much~

Bridgette has finally reached the age that she is getting into everything!!! The other day I noticed she crawled away and I hadn't heard her in a few minutes. I started looking through the bedrooms hoping to find her and finally I reached my bathroom and this is what I saw....at least she has the 'innocent' look down!!! It is hard to watch her grow up so fast- I know there will come a time when I miss these little incidents.....
